Privacy Policy

The short version. We collect nothing, we run no servers, and nothing you enter is sent anywhere. Everything you type stays on your iPhone. The app makes one kind of network connection — to Apple, to check the optional Extras purchase — and it carries nothing about you or your answers.
What we collect
Nothing. There is no account, no login, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier, no tracking of any kind, and no third-party SDK. The app uses Apple's own in-app purchase framework for the optional Extras unlock, and nothing else in it talks to a network at all.
We do not know that you have installed this app, we do not know when you use it, and we cannot see anything you type into it.
What the app stores on your device
Everything in this section is held on your iPhone and none of it is ever sent anywhere.
The period start dates you log in the cycle tracker. These are held in a database on your iPhone.
Estimates you choose to save. Saving is part of the optional Extras purchase, and it is never automatic — an estimate is written to storage only when you deliberately tap Save on the result screen. A saved entry holds the dates you entered, the cycle length and the answers you gave. It holds no name, no note and nothing identifying anybody. If you never tap Save, no record of any encounter is written to storage at all — that is how the app behaves unless you ask otherwise.
A saved estimate and a logged period date record different things. A period date on its own is just a date. A saved estimate records that a particular encounter happened on a particular date, and what the app made of it.
Which version of the notice you accepted, and when. That is what lets us tell which wording you were shown if it is ever revised.
Three settings: whether you switched the app lock on, whether Extras has been unlocked, and how many days you set the tracker to shade for each period. The purchase itself is held by Apple against your Apple Account rather than by us.
The app lock, if you switch it on, asks iOS to check your Face ID, Touch ID or device passcode before the app opens. iOS answers only yes or no — your face, fingerprint and passcode are never given to the app and never leave your device's secure hardware.
Your answers to the seven questions — the dates, cycle length, period length, age band and everything else — are held in memory only while you are filling the form in, and are discarded when you leave it unless you save the estimate.
Information about someone else
This app asks about another person: her cycle, her age, and the date of a sexual act. That is information about her health, and she is the person it belongs to. Only enter it if she knows and agrees. The app must not be used to monitor, pressure, or make decisions for anyone without their knowledge.
Because nothing you enter is transmitted and nothing is stored outside your own phone, we never see any of it and hold no copy of it. That does not make it yours to enter without asking.
What "stays on your iPhone" does and does not mean
It means we cannot see your data, and no company, advertiser or server ever receives it. It does not mean the data is beyond reach:
- Anyone who can unlock your phone can open the app and read what is in it.
- Local storage is not legal privilege. A court order, a lawful search or a border inspection directed at your phone can reach it, in the same way it can reach anything else on the device.
We say this plainly because "nothing leaves your phone" is easy to read as "nobody can ever get this", and that reading is wrong. If the contents of your phone are a risk to you or to her, take that into account before using the app.
What leaves your device
Nothing you enter. No answer, no date, no estimate and no logged period ever leaves your iPhone. As of version 1.0, that is not a policy commitment that could be quietly reversed in a later build — the app is built without the ability to do otherwise:
- There is no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising identifier.
- The project has zero third-party package dependencies.
- There is no cloud sync, no backup service, and no Apple Health integration.
- Nothing reads your tracker or your saved estimates except the screens that show them to you.
One connection, and this is the whole of it. If you open Extras, the app asks Apple's in-app purchase service what the item costs and whether you have already bought it. That is an exchange between your iPhone and Apple under your own Apple Account, like any other App Store purchase. It carries nothing about you, your answers, your tracker or your saved estimates — the app has no way to put any of that into it. Nothing else in the app needs a network: the estimate, the tracker, the emergency contraception windows and the test date are all worked out on your iPhone and function with no connection at all.
The app's bundled Apple privacy manifest declares no tracking, no tracking domains and no collected data types. It declares one required-reason API — the system setting store, used within this app's own container to record which version of the legal notice you accepted and when, whether the app lock is on, whether Extras has been unlocked, and your period-length setting. That is an accurate declaration rather than a placeholder.
Device backups
If you have iCloud Backup or encrypted local backups switched on, your iPhone may include this app's local database in those backups, in the same way it does for other apps. That is handled entirely by iOS under your own Apple account settings; the app neither requests it nor has any access to it.
This includes your saved estimates, and the app lock does not change it. The app lock controls who can open the app on the phone. It is not a control over what iOS puts in a backup. If that matters to you, either do not save estimates or review your backup settings in iOS.
Deleting your data
- Tap any logged day in the tracker again to unlog it.
- Swipe a saved estimate to delete it. The entry is removed, not marked as deleted and kept.
- Deleting the app from your iPhone removes its database entirely.
There is no "request my data" or "delete my account" process, because there is no account and no server holding anything to delete.
Your Extras purchase is the one thing deleting the app does not undo: it is held by Apple against your Apple Account, so reinstalling lets you restore it without paying again.
Children
This app is not directed at children. It discusses sexual activity in direct clinical terms, and it carries an age rating to match. The notice shown when you first open the app requires you to confirm that you are 18 or older. If you are under 18, do not use it — a doctor, nurse or pharmacist can help you confidentially, and will do so without needing your parents' involvement in most places.
Not medical advice
Rough Odds is an informational estimator based on published population averages. It is not a medical device, makes no diagnostic claim, and is not a method of contraception. It does not replace a pregnancy test or a doctor.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Any change that weakened the commitments above would require shipping a fundamentally different app, and would be described here plainly rather than buried. The statements above about networking, tracking and third-party code describe the version of the app named in each one; if a future version differs, this page will say so before that version ships.
Who publishes this app
Gabe Bud Investments Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong, contactable at info@gabebud.com.
If the law of the country where you live gives you data protection or consumer rights you cannot contract out of, or the right to bring a claim in your own courts, you keep them — nothing here takes them away. Otherwise this policy is governed by the law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and you and we agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong.
Because nothing you enter is transmitted and we hold no copy of any of it, we are not in a position to access, correct, export or erase your data — there is nothing on our side to act on. Everything is on your own device, and the steps under "Deleting your data" above are the complete answer.
