Common questions

How does the app choose a recipe?

For each dish you add the app searches the web for the recipe. It ranks what it finds by rating and number of reviews together, so a 4.9 from hundreds of reviews beats a lone 5.0. You can pick a different recipe from the list, or paste a link or import a photo of your own. Every recipe links back to the page it came from.

It can't find a recipe for my dish

Recipe search needs an internet connection. If you are online, try a simpler or more common name for the dish — "chicken curry" rather than a family nickname — or paste a link to a recipe you already like.

How do I change the number of people?

Settings → Family size. Every recipe, and so the whole shopping list, is scaled to that number. A change applies straight away to this week and any week you have planned ahead; past weeks in History keep the size they were cooked for.

Why do some Discover cards say "Because you cook chicken"?

Discover looks at the main ingredients you plan most often — recent weeks count more than old ones — and suggests different ways to cook them, so you get chicken tacos or a chicken traybake instead of the same dish again. This is worked out on your iPhone from your own plans; nothing about it is sent anywhere. Dishes you have already planned, and anything containing an ingredient you excluded in Settings, are left out.

Is this a subscription?

No. Your first planned week is free, with every feature. After that, a single one-time purchase unlocks every week, forever — nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. The purchase works with Family Sharing, so people in your family group get it too.

I bought the unlock but it's asking me to pay again

Tap Already bought it? Restore on the unlock screen, or go to Settings → Full Version → Restore purchase. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with. Restoring never charges you again.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are too. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com, signed in with the Apple Account you used.

How do I delete what I've planned?

Swipe a dish or a shopping list item to delete it, and delete past weeks in History. Deleting the app removes all of its data. Nothing is stored anywhere else — see the privacy policy.

Does my data go anywhere?

Your plans, lists and settings stay on your iPhone. To find recipes, the app sends a short search phrase to the recipe websites — the dish you searched for, or for Discover a phrase like "chicken curry" — and to check the one-time purchase it talks to Apple. Neither carries your name, your plan or anything identifying you. See the privacy policy for the detail.
